HCM City gives licences to two high-tech projects
The Sai Gon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) in HCM City issued licences to two projects worth more than US$80 million on April 28, the dddn.com.vn reported.
One of the projects is "the Development of Millennium Science Park," which will be built on a 22.7ha area by the University of Nguyen Tat Thanh for VND900 billion ($42.25 million), and is expected to be completed before 2017.
The Millennium Science Park will have a garden with trees and plants from three regions of the country, a science park with a millennium tower, a solar-powered square and an outdoor entertainment stage with a roof, besides the main square, a nature museum and a hi-tech agricultural greenhouse.
The science park will also provide an environment in SHTP that complements and conserves the local biological system, especially the channel and riverside areas.
Nguyen Manh Hung, the Nguyen Tat Thanh University's president of the Board of Directors and also the school's headmaster, said this was the school's third project in SHTP, following the Hi-Tech Development Centre and the Hi-Tech Training Centre.
He said these projects were part of the school's plan to become one of 20 best universities in Viet Nam, an international hi-tech training centre as well as a top national science and technology research centre.
The other project is "the Development of Sai Gon Silicon City," worth VND860 billion ($40 million), to be built on a 52ha area, in which the Sai Gon Silicon Park JSC has invested.
The Sai Gon Silicon City is expected to attract 24 Vietnamese enterprises that are operating overseas in the hi-tech and support industries.
The project will start this May and is expected to be complete by early 2016.
Nguyen Minh Hieu, president of Sai Gon Silicon JSC's Board of Directors, said the project would develop into a smart city following the Silicon Valley model in California, provide full facilities and infrastructure, as well as support services for Vietnamese enterprises that are operating overseas in hi-tech industries.
