Gelato and pasta chain to enter Cambodia
Singaporean food conglomerate Commonwealth Capital Group has teamed up with K Distribution Company Ltd, a local Cambodian fashion retailing firm, to bring two Italian fast-casual restaurant chains to the Kingdom.
The franchise agreement is for six Pastamania and Gelatofix outlets, which will open in the next 18 months, according to a statement from Commonwealth Capital. The new food outlets will add to K Distribution Company’s existing food and beverage portfolio.
“We are expected to open the first flagship outlet for both PastaMania & Gelatofix in the third quarter of 2015 at an exclusive heritage site in Phnom Penh overlooking the scenic Mekong River,” said Yin-Yin Yeo, managing director of international business at Singapore-based Commonwealth Capital Group.
The announcement comes at a time when a recent study by Park Cafe Food and Beverage revealed that more Cambodians were eating out in Phnom Penh, while the number of restaurants in the city had also increased to 2,180 from 1,726 last year.
