Vietnamese exports to Italy surge in January

Viet Nam exported US$249 million worth of commodities to Italy in January, reflecting an annual increase of 36.39 per cent, the Information Centre under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.

Major exports included phones and phone components, footwear, and coffee, growing between 14 and 66 per cent from January last year.

Bilateral trade rose steadily by 25 to 30 per cent annually, hitting $3.6 billion in 2014.

The figure is expected to reach $5 billion in 2016, as the southern European nation has become an important export market for Viet Nam.
