Airport expansions to include new lounge

Airport lounge operator Plaza Premium Lounge Management is to design and manage the lounges at the soon-to-be completed upgrades of both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap international airports.

The Hong Kong-based company will include spa and shower facilities, as well as meet-and-greet services in the new lounges, which will occupy a combined 2,200 square metres across both airports, according to a release from Cambodia Airports yesterday.

Passengers at Phnom Penh International Airport will be able to access the new facilities by mid-year, while in Siem Reap, the new lounge will be up and running by the year’s end, according to the statement.

In January last year, Cambodia Airports kicked off a $100 million program to expand the passenger terminals at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The upgrade is expected to double the airports passenger capacity to 5 million each.

Khek Norinda, communication and marketing director at Cambodia Airports, said the expansion plans included additional check-in and immigration counters and a larger space dedicated to retail and food outlets.

“Progress of both terminals’ extension is in line with the schedule and their full completion is scheduled in early 2016,” he said yesterday.
