Ford Vietnam honored in the Top 100 Business Style Awards 2014

Managing director of Ford Vietnam Jesus Metelo Arias has been honored as one of the Top 10 Most Outstanding Entrepreneurs in the 5th Top 100 Business Style Awards for his major contributions to both Ford and the community in Vietnam.

Each year, the Top 100 Business Style Awards 2014 choose businesspeople who go beyond helping their enterprises to accomplish outstanding achievements, to ensuring that their operations are environmentally-friendly and comply with the regulations and development policies of the government. Additionally, they have to be proactive in CSR activities.

Metelo was as one of the Top 10 Most Outstanding Entrepreneurs with the award "Entrepreneur Managing a Global Enterprise" for his ongoing efforts in expanding Ford Vietnam's operations and community programmes.

"I am very pleased to representing Ford Vietnam through this recognition from the Business Style Awards. This award is not for me alone—rather, it is for every member of Ford Vietnam who has worked side by side with me and supported me on our journey to build Ford’s relationship with Vietnamese customers," said Metelo. "In 2015, Ford Vietnam will continue to introduce new global vehicles in order to cater to the needs of our customers, while maintaining our commitment "Go Further" through CSR activities to help make Vietnam a better place."

Metelo commenced his role as managing director of Ford Vietnam in 2012, which was widely considered a difficult year for many companies in the automotive industry. However, by the end of 2014, he had led the company to a record full-year performance, with retail sales soaring 71 per cent to 13,988 units. These results helped Ford to capture market share of 8.9 per cent - up 1.5 percentage points from 2013.

Ford has also constantly invested in expanding its network, with the recent opening of a new authorised dealership in the southern province of Binh Duong and the upgraded of its Pho Quang branch, creating a total of 27 dealerships and branches across the country.

Additionally, Ford Vietnam has been committed to assisting the community through various social and environmental programmes, such as the Driving Skills for Life programme—an annual global initiative that educates participants about safe driving skills and communicates the importance of traffic safety. Since 2008, the programme has reached and trained more than 8,500 people.

Ford also helped to organise the No Honking campaign to raise public awareness on traffic etiquette and raise money to help victims of traffic accidents in Vietnam. Furthermore, Ford also carries out other initiatives such as Global Week of Caring, Green Day, and charitable activities to improve living conditions and the environment of Vietnam.
