Viet Nam's favourite brand names announced

The moniker of Viet Nam's 2014 Favourite Brand Name was awarded to 29 businesses on Tuesday at a ceremony in HCM City.

The honour was given to firms across many industries: tourism, trade, services, manufacturing, transport and banking.

Nguyen Thi Hong, vice chairwoman of the HCM City People's Committee, said these businesses had built prestigious brands, and improved consumers' awareness and shopping habits.

Many of the winners have received recognition over several consecutive years, including Saigontourist, AIG Insurance, Sai Gon Co-op, Big C, Vinasun and Sai Gon Petro.

The annual award, determined by a nationwide customer vote, aims to encourage enterprises to develop high-quality brands and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods in both domestic and foreign markets, especially as the country further integrates into the international economy.
