Huawei reveals 2015 plan to expand smartphone market share
China's technology gi ant, Huawei has announced plans to establish its authorised flagship stores in each province across Laos in a move to increase its smartphone market share in the country as its models have been increasingly popul ar with customers.
Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd (HTCL) – the leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider of China, have set up three authorised flagship stores in Vientiane beginning in June and the stores have generated good sales.
Work to begin establishing the new flagship stores in the Lao provinces has started this month, Managing Director of South East Asia Region of Huawei Device of HTCL, Mr Thomas (Le) Liu told Vientiane Times this week.
Mr Thomas spoke to Vientiane Times during his attendance to a partners' meeting held on December 29 in the capital to review business in 2014 and explore the perspective for 2015. The partners hailed the achievement of the Huawei Ascend Mate7 with its good sales record, the latest flagship smartphone from Huawei.
Describing the Ascend Mate7 as the world's best smartphone, Mr Thomas said the Ascend Mate 7 has been especially popular with regional and global smartphone users.
“Just within one month, more than 1,500 thousand Huawei Ascend Mate7 units have sold out in Laos,” he said, adding that good sales were also registered in Thailand, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka.
“For such a high-end smartphone, it was a very good result. I am more than happy with our results for the Ascend Mate 7.”
Ascend Mate7 was first launched in Berlin, Germany on September 4, 2014 and was available in Laos the following weeks. The Ascend Mate7 features a big 6-inch screen with FHD display for enhanced entertainment viewing, a slimmer 7.9mm body for increased comfort, a more powerful octa-core chipset for superior performance, and a longer-lasting 4100 mAh battery. With new single-touch fingerprint technology and EMUI 3.0, Ascend Mate7 dials up the mobile experience to make it easier for users to live life to the fullest.
The Ascend Mate7 is the latest big-screen smartphone from Huawei showcasing its big ambitions as the number three smartphone vendor in the world. Boasting octa-core architecture, Ascend Mate7 has an intelligent Huawei Kirin 925 processor made up of four large A15 1.8 GHz and four small A7 1.3 GHz chipsets which are activated in different configurations depending on the power needs of a specific app or function so the smartphone can be smarter with power management. Ascend Mate7 saves up to 50 percent of the battery by automatically using smaller A7 cores to power standard apps that consumers use at least 80 percent of the time, and kicking in the larger A15 during high-performance use such as gaming. The processor will also automatically activate additional cores when it detects that 85 percent to 95 percent of a single core's processing capability is being used.
Despite the fact that Huawei Smartphones have been increasingly popular among Lao smartphone users, Mr Thomas noted that many customers still had limited knowledge about smartphone features so they did not know what the best smartphones were or which one was better.
T herefore, Huawei will deploy more of its professional staff at its flagship stores including at the new ones, which are planned to be built in each province to provide advice on smartphone applications and their functions to customers. Customers can also try Huawei Smartphones at any flagship store themselves.
In addition, the p artners agreed at this week's meeting to invest more in an advertising campaign through local media to reach a wider range of customers.
Mr Thomas stated that Huawei had attached great importance to producing its devices including smartphones by using the best quality materials such as metal on the Ascend Mate 7 with the best technologies and reasonable prices as strategies to convince customers to buy and use Huawei devices.
Huawei couldn't use advertisements as a tool to cheat people by selling low quality items as high-end products, he said.
Huawei, the world's third largest smartphone maker provides a range of products including mobile phones, mobile broadband (MBB) devices, home devices, and software appliances that run on these products.
The company has more than 20 years of expertise in the ICT sector with an extensive global network, vast global business operations and well-established partner relationship.
The company's products and services are employed in over 170 countries, serving more than one third of the world's population. Some 160,000 employees worldwide ha ve been employed by the company.
In 2013, the company earned revenue of almost US$39 billion. Huawei Consumer Business Group sold 128 million devices in the year, including 60 million mobile phones, 44.5 million mobile broadband devices and 24.4 million home devices.
Huawei has had a representative office in Laos for about 15 years.
In Laos, the company has a strong relationship with all the telecom operators like Lao Telecom, ETL, Unitel, Beeline and Skytel. At the same time, Huawei Lao office also cooperates with the Lao government on some projects. The company plans to set up 50 retail stores across Laos. It already has W&W Computer and the LTC customer service centre.
In 2008, Huawei built the first 3G network in the capital Vientiane. And then in 2012, during the Asia-Europe Summit, the company upgraded the network in Vientiane to 4G capabilities.
