Casumina signs deal to export tyres to US

The Southern Rubber Industry JSC (Casumina) reached an agreement with its US partner on Monday to export tyres to the US in 2015, according to the Sai Gon Giai Phong (Liberated Sai Gon) newspaper.

Casumina will ship 200,000 tyres worth US$57 million to the US this year.

A company representative said the firm had invested in technology and equipment to produce all-steel radial tyres to secure the deal.

Casumina is one of the leading domestic makers of car tyres in Viet Nam. The company put into operation an all-steel radial truck tyre factory in the southern province of Binh Duong last April.

The VND3.38 trillion ($161 million) factory, the most modern of its kind in Viet Nam, was co-invested by the Viet Nam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) and Casumina, and is capable of producing one million units per year.
