Startup magazine gives readers AEC business insight
The newly released Young Entrepreneur magazine aims to provide readers with easy access to business information, with a view to preparing Laos for integration into the Asean Economic Community (AEC) next year.
The first edition of the magazine was published earlier this month by the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Laos (YEAL).
It can be purchased at M-Point Mart shops, retail outlets, hotels, restaurants, state enterprises, companies, banks, embassies and the offices of international organisations.
YEAL President Ms Valy Vetsaphong said Young Entrepreneur will provide target readers, mainly business operators, with information about the AEC, as it had been observed that many people lacked in-depth understanding of the regional economic bloc.
If the magazine is widely distributed in markets and among the public, she believes readers will have a deeper understanding of AEC issues and what lies in store.
Ms Valy hopes that when the AEC comes into effect next year, the magazine will be distributed in other Asean countries, so that it reaches other young entrepreneurs.
“At present the magazine is written entirely in Lao, but we hope to publish an English version as well so that all Asean people can gain full access to our content. But we still need coordination and cooperation from various sectors to supply information and provide funding for our magazine,” she said.
Young Entrepreneur will be distributed free of charge to 18 ministries, YEAL members in Vientiane and the provinces, government and private educational institutions, National Library of Laos, the National University of Laos library, and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union.
Elsewhere the magazine is on sale for 15,000 kip.
The content of the monthly magazine will focus on preparations for Asean economic integration next year, the activities of YEAL members in Laos and overseas, and the development of special and specific economic zones.
The magazine will provide a platform for business operators, experts and economists to share their ideas and knowledge.
In addition, the magazine will report on the successes and issues faced by entrepreneurs, as well as successful business management techniques.
Articles will analyse aspects of the Lao economy to identify the best ways to run a business and strengthen the operations of SMEs in Laos.
Young Entrepreneur’s market segmentation puts the main focus on business operators and others interested in business issues, followed by the general public, officials, and students as target readers.
