Acleda adds Discover, Diners Club to pay system

Acleda Bank announced yesterday that it will now accept payments from Discover and Diners Club cardholders.

So Phonnary, group chief operations officer of Acleda, said yesterday that the bank had struck the agreement with Discover Financial Services, parent company of Diners Club International, this month to accept payments via the bank’s point of sales systems and ATMs.

“The agreement means Discover and Diners Club cardholders from anywhere now can withdraw money from Acleda’s ATMs and pay through our point of sales,” Phonnary said. “It gives another settlement system for tourists and foreign visitors to Cambodia alongside with MasterCard, Visa card and JBC ,which have already been accepted here in Cambodia.”

Gerry Wagner, vice president of Discover Network, said in a statement that the decision to expand services to Cambodia was enhanced by the Kingdom’s tourism industry, which last year attracted 5.2 million people.

“Annual tourist and business travel to Cambodia has nearly doubled in the last five years and our relationship with Acleda enables us to continue reaching our growth objectives while providing merchant acceptance to the places our members visit the most,” Wagner said.
