Capital acts against projects that violate land laws

Ha Noi's Department of Natural Resources and Environment has submitted the investigation results of two projects to the city's People's Committee to ask for permission for withdrawal of their land.

The two projects are the 60,000-square-metre Son Tay vocational school by the Dai Duong Construction Investment and Development Company, and the 3,344-square-metre building of BIDV Diamond of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) in Dich Vong and My Dinh 2 districts.

The two projects are expected to be withdrawn and put under the management of the department's Centre for Trading Land and Land Development.

These projects are mentioned in the department's list, submitted on September 8, of projects that have violated laws.

Earlier, Ha Noi issued an order withdrawing more than 32,490 square metres of the Phu Da National Enterprise of Veterinary Vaccine in Hoai Duc District's Duc Thuong Commune. The city is preparing a document to withdraw land from a project that violated the law and was meant for the construction of a commercial service centre in My Dinh Commune. My Dinh 2 District's People's Committee was assigned an area of 10,224 square metres to build the centre in 2002.

The department suggested to the city's committee that the deadline for 49 projects be extended, and their investors be asked to quickly complete procedures to begin construction. Out of the 49 projects, the construction of 13 has not been implemented after 12 to 41 months from the day the land was handed over, such as VIETSING international clinic of Rang Dong JSC, and Canary Tower of the Infrastructure Investment Development Company (INDECO).

Five other projects are showing a slow rate of progress, taking between 29 and 41 months, including the Mai Lam residential area of Ba Dinh Investment JSC, and the offices and a vocational centre of Song Da Infrastructure Construction JSC.

The city also asked Ha Noi Transformers and Electrical Equipments Manufacturing JSC and Thanh Tri Garment JSC to finish the construction of their factories by the end of this year. Otherwise, Ha Noi will withdraw the land allotted for these projects.
