New hotel to cater to businesspeople in Laos

A Chinese businessman has invested more than US$3 million to build a luxury hotel to cater to domestic and foreign businesspeople in Laos.

The new Khong Kham Hotel officially opened on Friday, with the ceremony attended by Vientiane Information, Culture and Tourism Department Director Ms Vanpheng Keonakhone.

“After successfully doing business in Laos, especially in the entertainment and agriculture sectors, we decided to invest in the hotel sector to respond to the flow of foreign tourists and businesspeople to Laos,” hotel owner Mr Long Yi said.

“Nowadays it has been observed that many Lao people have better incomes and they desire better services but there are not many luxury places to respond to their demands causing many people to go abroad instead.”

“Therefore, we decided to build this hotel to accommodate and service these people and also foreign businesspeople and tourists in Laos,” Mr Long explained.

He observed that many hotels have been built in Vientiane in recent times but that they don't necessarily have their own unique style of design or high standard services so they want to take advantage of this gap in the market.

Construction of the hotel commenced in 2011 and was completed in July this year. It has 20 karaoke rooms and 25 bedrooms, which have been designed in a combination of Lao and European styles, according to Mr Long Yi.

“We also plan to build a restaurant at the hotel to cater to parties and conferences,” he added.
