Foodpanda Vietnam celebrates second anniversary

This June marks a milestone for foodpanda.vn as it celebrates its second anniversary in Vietnam.

Since entering the market in mid-2012, foodpanda, one of the world’s leading food delivery marketplaces, has established itself as a market leader in Vietnam, and is currently operational in the country’s major cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Danang and Can Tho with a network of around 1,000 partnered restaurants.

This marketplace offers users great culinary variety with menus ranging from Western dishes to Asian signature cuisines, catered by leading international mega F&B brands such as Jollibee, KFC or Pizza Hut and well-known local restaurants such as Tango Juice, Paolo and Chi and Namaste Hanoi for a world class customer experience.

The celebration in Vietnam is part of a series of a global event to commemorate the second anniversary of foodpanda in the markets of India, Taiwan and the Southeast Asia region.

Backed by Rocket Internet, foodpanda has achieved exponential worldwide growth over the last two years, having been recognised as the fastest expanding venture of this Internet incubator giant.

Recently, foodpanda has also been awarded the best e-commerce startup at the 2014 European Tech Startup Awards in June.

Foodpanda is now active in over 40 countries across the globe, having partnered with over 30,000 restaurants worldwide.

In Southeast Asia, foodpanda is available in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

“After two years of operation, we have maintained strong growth thanks to the extremely positive responses from the Vietnamese market. This will only encourage us to work harder and ensure our commitment to a superb food ordering experience via simple and easy methods. We strive for the mindset of when you think of food, you think of foodpanda,” said Tauriq Brown, co-founder and managing director of foodpanda Vietnam.

On this occasion, foodpanda also announced its partnership with KOTO, a social enterprise that provides hospitality service training to support at-risk and disadvantaged youth yearning for better lives.

Within coming months, foodpanda will join hands with KOTO in a series of activities as sponsoring KOTO trainees, participating in volunteer programmes, and together with staff from other Rocket Internet ventures to distribute food and clothes to people in need.

Activities also include raising funds among foodpanda users to buy meal for homeless children as well as among foodpanda partners to sponsor equipment for KOTO training centres.

Currently, within the period from June 16 to July 10, foodpanda.vn is running the #foodball2014 challenge to live football with the Vietnamese football fans during the biggest football tournament of the year.

Foodpanda, together with its affiliated brand hellofood, is a leading global online food delivery marketplace operating in more than 40 countries around the globe.
