Banking on technology in capital

The Cambodian finance industry is to celebrate the sixth Banking and Finance Conference a week from today, at a meeting that will focus on developing technology in the country’s financial sector.

To be held at the InterContinental Hotel, the event is hosted by the Cambodian Microfinance Association and the International Data Group ASEAN.

“Leading banks are actively enhancing their delivery channel mix to be more responsive and interactive, while adopting new waves of technologies such mobile computing, social computing, and big data to progressively diversify products and service and expand their service scope,” a statement from the events organisers reads.

So Phonnary, chief operations officer of Acleda Bank, said it was important for the industry to stay on top of technological advancements.

“The new and modern technology is the heart of banking operators. It is now the competitive advantage for banking institutions,” she said.
