Slovenian firms eye VN market opportunities

Slovenian businesses have had a chance to learn about opportunities for cooperation in Vietnam at an economic integration seminar in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana on May 13.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Slovenia Nguyen Thiep highlighted the potential for expanding economic and trade ties between the two countries. Viet Nam, with a population of more than 90 million, was integrating more into the global economy, Thiep said, adding that it was accelerating negotiations of a free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Union and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement with stakeholders.

At the event, representatives from Slovenian businesses raised questions related to the possibility of expanding trade with Viet Nam in farm produce, machinery and equipment, as well as incentives for small and medium-d enterprises.
