MDP partners with Singapore investor for joint-venture project

MDP Trading, a Lao-owned company, yesterday announced a partnership with Pan Oceana, a Singapore-based investment company for a joint-venture project in Laos.

Under this partnership, both companies will establish a joint business in Laos that will develop and implement sustainable projects related to clean drinking water, natural resources, energy and infrastructure.

This announcement follows on the heels of a recent visit by high-ranking officials from Laos to Singapore to promote economic cooperation between both countries.

“We are very excited about our partnership with Pan Oceana,” says David Moore, Managing Director of MDP Trading. “We share a common goal to develop projects that will bring long term benefits to the people of Laos.”

Mr Moore has been working to develop projects in Laos since 2006 and has played key roles in developing some of the largest mining projects in Laos along with clean energy and biomass projects in Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and the Philippines.

“Our partnership with MDP Trading and its other partners creates a very strong platform for economic development,” says Clement Ng, CEO of Pan Oceana.

“We are proud and honoured to be a part of this very exciting initiative, and have great confidence in Mr Moore and his top tier team's capabilities.”

The MDP-Pan Oceana platform is enhanced by MDP's existing partnerships with other leading Lao companies including EXIM (logistics) and BMEC (engineering consulting).

This collaboration joins best-in-class Lao talent with foreign capital injections, which will be applied to projects based on their ability to provide sustainable environmental, economic and community benefits to Laos.
