Nearly VND759 billion disbursed in housing loans

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on January 14 announced that the banking system had disbursed VND758.7 billion (US$35.626 million) of the VND30 trillion housing support package to 1,765 customers as of December 31, 2013.

Earlier, banks committed to offer loans to 1,789 customers with total capital of VND1.881 trillion (US$88.4 million).

As many as 1,759 individuals have borrowed totalling VND424.7 billion (US$19.96 million).

The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) recorded the highest disbursement of VND146.5 billion (US$69.46 million), followed by the Vietnam Bank for Foreign Trade with VND128 billion (US$6.01 million).

The lowest disbursement was seen in the Mekong Housing Bank with VND6.2 billion (US$2.91 million).

The SBV also said it has confirmed registration from three banks - BIDV, Bank for Industry and Trade, and Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development - to sign contracts valued at VND1.238 trillion (US$58.186 million) with 12 enterprises, accounting for 13.8% of the total capital for housing.

So far, VND333.9 billion (US$15.69 million) has been disbursed to six firms, it said.

Last year, the SBV announced a VND30 trillion (US$1.42 billion) package for housing support.
