HCMC’s labor market has 265,000 jobs in 2014

The Ho Chi Minh City’s labor market in 2014 will have 265,000 jobs, 130,000 of which are new ones, according to Tran Anh Tuan, deputy director of the HCMC Labor Market Information and Job Forecasting Center.

 

Sectors which have high recruitment demand include business, service, health – health care, tourism, consultant, insurance, mechanical, construction, information technology, electronics and electrical industry.

Regarding qualifications, untrained workers account for 37 percent while there are only 4 percent of skilled workers.

Employees who participated in two-year vocational courses account for 26 percent while there are 4 percent of workers who graduated from a six-month vocational course. Twelve percent graduated from colleges and 13 percent from universities.

The lack of unskilled workers after the 2014 lunar New Year is forecast at less than 5 percent.

Regarding small and medium businesses, this number varies from 6 to 10 percent. In the first quarter of 2014, HCMC will have 55,000 jobs in which seasonal jobs account for 15 percent while 40 percent will be reserved for unskilled workers.
