HCM City hosts regional pharma exhibition

Domestic and international experts in the pharmaceutical field exchanged notes at the 8th Indochina Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences that ended yesterday in HCM City.

The conference, whose focus was on ASEAN integration in the pharmaceutical field, attracted the participation of 200 foreign experts and scientists from 17 countries and territories.

Presentations and sessions focused on several subjects, including clinical pharmacy, pharmacology, social and administrative pharmacy, pharmacognosy, medicinal plants and natural products.

Topics discussed during the two-day event included pharmaceutical chemistry, analytical chemistry and drug quality control and pharmaceutical biotechnology.

A symposium on pharmacy education in ASEAN-member countries and an exhibition on pharmaceuticals, equipment and chemicals was also organised.

Huynh Van Hoa, deputy head of the HCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy's pharmaceutical department, said the biennial conference was held to promote cooperation among universities worldwide in education, and science and technology research.

Domestic firms can also promote their potential in pharmaceutical manufacturing to foreign experts and companies, Hoa said.

The conference was co-organised by HCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ha Noi University of Pharmacy, Thailand's Mahidol University, and University Kebangsaan of Malaysia.
