US zeros anti-dumping tariffs for Vietnamese shrimp
On Tuesday the frozen shrimp export industry was happy to welcome the news that the US Department of Commerce has, for the first time ever, levied a zero anti-dumping duty on their exports to the US.
Specifically, all shipments of Minh Phu Seafood Corp and Nha Trang Seafoods, the two required defendants in the DOC’s 7th Administrative Review (POR7) during the period between February 1, 2011 and January 31, 2012, are now subject to a zero percent anti-dumping tariff.
The duty applied for the remaining 30 Vietnamese shrimp exporters to the US has also been lowered to zero.
These shipments will still bear an import tariff of 25.76 percent.
Truong Dinh Hoe, chairman of the Vietnam Seafood Processor and Exporter, said this is good news for the domestic shrimp industry, after the DOC last month imposed an anti-subsidy tax of 4.52 percent on Vietnamese shipments.
