Viet Nam sells rice stocks to Africa's Comoros

Viet Nam will supply 60,000 tonnes of rice to Comoros each year according to a recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries.

The first shipments will be sent in August 2013, with the final shipment in December 2015.

The agreement was signed by Viet Nam's Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Le Duong Quang and Comoros's ambassador to Beijing, Mahmoud Aboud.

The MoU will provide a legal foundation for direct rice trading between Viet Nam and Comoros, in a move that will strengthen trade ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Aboud said despite being a small African nation, Comoros imports around 70,000 and 80,000 tonnes of rice every year.

In addition to rice, Viet Nam will export garments, construction materials, automobile parts, and agricultural machinery to this market, he said.
