Employees of Mfone protest
Nearly 100 former employees of bankrupt telecommunication provider Mfone gathered yesterday morning to protest outside the former company’s headquarters to claim compensation still owed by the company.
Nhoem Vannak, former Mfone’s staff member and representative from the Cambodian Labour Confederation, said the compensation payment was very crucial for his group as most them are living in financially difficult situations.“We will protest and continue doing [this] until any appropriate solution is offered,” Nhoem Vannak said. “There will be more people tomorrow and [the] next days because many are travelling from the provinces.”
Nhoem Vannak said there are 1,092 workers the company owes money to, with a total value of $4.4 million.
Ouk Ry, court-appointed liquidator of Mfone’s assets, told the Post yesterday that it was difficult to tell when exactly the money might appear.
