Committee created for Mfone’s creditors

An Mfone creditor committee comprising creditors, employees, government officials and the telecommunications regulator has been established to help liquidate the bankrupt Cambodian company’s assets.

Kouy Thunna, the lawyer representing Mfone creditor Eltek, said the committee included six business creditors, including Huawei and Eltek.

“The committee will protect the creditors, and no one can sell Mfone assets without approval,” he said.

According to Thunna, there may still be issues with the court’s decision to overturn Eltek’s injunction to freeze Mfone assets.

“Although the committee is in place, the issue can not be dealt with outside the court system,” he said.

Court-appointed administrator Ouk Ry said this would be discussed by the committee.

Thunna said creditors NEC, Watana, DBS and Asian INSO are also on the committee.
