Bangkok Airways to maintain Lao routes

Bangkok Airways has said it intends to maintain its Lao routes, amid celebrations of its 45th anniversary.

Vice President of Marketing for Bangkok Airways, Mr Prote Setsuwan, told V ientiane Time s and others at a press conference held in Vientiane on Saturday that the airline will maintain its routes to and from Vientiane and Luang Prabang this year and in 2014. These are the most important destinations in Laos and serve the wider regional market.

Mr Prote also said Laos is one of the most interesting countries to do business in and they expect to further expand here in the future.

This year, Laos was honoured with the World's Best Tourist Destination award for 2013 by the European Council for Tourism and Trade, and Bangkok Airways wants to serve the growing passenger numbers this should bring.

Bangkok Airways is a privately owned regional airline operating in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, Chinese Hong Kong and the Maldives. The company began its Bangkok-Luang Prabang flight in October 2002, and has operated daily flights between Bangkok and Vientiane since November 2012.

Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Chaleune Warinthrasak, who attended the press conference, said the routes to and from Vientiane and Luang Prabang will continue to bring economic advantages to both the airline and to Laos.
