Thai home appliance maker sees growth in Laos

A major electrical appliance supplier in Bangkok, Smart Electrical Suppliers Co Ltd, has opened a branch in Laos by launching a joint venture business operation with a Lao trading company.

The products, under the brand name ‘Clarte', include water purifiers, water heaters, water dispensers, air coolers, fans, gas cookers and other home electronic products made in Thailand.

“This is the first time that our products have entered the Lao market. We are here because we see that Laos has strong economic growth,” Smart Electrical Suppliers Co Ltd Managing Director Ms Jarunun Danuvas said.

“Laos has an increasing number of investors and incomes are also rising,” Ms Jarunun said at the opening of the Clarte Electronic Laos Branch in Vientiane on Thursday.

“Development in Laos is also going well and that has attracted overseas traders to the Lao market.”

Smart Electrical Suppliers Co Ltd is a Thai manufacturer and service operator that is keen to grow its business here.

“We are here to develop an electrical appliance business in Laos after more than 10 years of business operation in Thailand,” Ms Jarunun said. The Clarte Electronic Laos Branch is a joint venture concern bet ween Lisa Trading of Laos and the Thai electrical appliance maker.

“We have opened the branch as a joint venture because we see that it will be more beneficial than if we tried to do it alone and Lisa Trading is familiar with customers needs,” she said.

Smart Electrical Suppliers Co Ltd also plans to open other branches in Cambodia and Myanmar in the near future, while Lisa Trading will open in Vietnam.
