Steel exports face head wind
The amount of steel in stock has not decreased significantly while imported steel – mainly from China – keeps increasing, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
To cope with the resulting pressure, domestic steel makers are struggling to find export outlet for their products. Many have boosted trade promotion in order to find investing opportunities in potential markets like Cambodia and Turkey.
The total capacity of Viet Nam's steel producers reached 586,000 tonnes last month, an 8 per cent increase compared to the same period last year while domestic consumption was still low.
