EU, French-Thai chambers agree to promote business cooperation with Laos

The European Chamber of Commerce in Laos (ECCIL) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Franco-Thai Chamber of Commerce (FTCC) to promote and facilitate business activities between Laos, Thailand, and France.

The MOU was signed between ECCIL Executive Director Dr Ramon Bruesseler and FTCC Executive Director Mr Lucas Boudet.

The ceremony was hosted by the French ambassador to Laos, Mr Yves Carmona. Among the guests present were ECCIL President Mr Guy Apovy, President of the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce Mr Karl-Heinz Heckhausen, and Head of the French Trade Commission Mr Jean-Jacques Guillaudeau.

The Memorandum formalises the already good working relationship between the two business organisations and outlines their future cooperation.

Among other activities, the chambers will jointly promote trade and investment, exchange economic and legal information, organise business trips and visits of foreign trade delegations, and cooperate in the areas of trade fairs and international conferences.

The Memorandum comes into force immediately, with the specific activities to be worked out early next year.

The signing ceremony took place during the visit to Laos of an international business delegation with high ranking participants which was jointly organised by the ECCIL, the Franco-Thai Chamber of Commerce and the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce.
