Passing by Khouvieng Road these days, you will see a new building standing next to Green Park Boutique Hotel. The two-storey building with a number of palm trees in its garden has attracted the attention of the public.

The soon to be completed modern building is the office for the World Trade Center (WTC) project which has been built by the Lao International Development Co., Ltd.

It also aims raise confidence about the WTC project among the public, as well as foreign investors. With the introduction of the WTC project coming in the near future, the office will make it more convenient for investors and members of the public to reserve some real estate in the project.

Mr Wang Haonan, Head of the WTC project said that as soon as the Lao government approved a concession for Nongchanh area in order to build the WTC project, Lao International Development Co.,Ltd started gathering the manpower and necessary materials to start building the project earlier this year.

Construction of the WTC project office commenced in April 2012 and it is now nearing completion, except for the interior decoration. Mr Wang said that in the initial phase, they are also building a drainage canal 1300 metres long, 8 metres wide and 2.5 metres high, parallel with Khouvieng Road.

Passing by the site lately, you will see a number of labourers are working enthusiastically on the garden in front of the office, while some are installing electrical appliances and decorating the inside of the building. Mr Wang said the WTC project office is expected to officially open early next month if nothing goes wrong.

This two-storey building is of a modern architecture style, with a floor area of about 2000 square metres. Its structure has been concreted with crystal walls and western roofing style. The first floor is going to be used as a reception area where all investors and guests will be welcomed by their friendly staff when they want to get the information about the WTC project.

Meanwhile, the second floor will be used as an office space for Lao International Development Co., Ltd staff, as they work to continue the projec t. Mr Wang said that the building as well as the garden, which is decorated with palm trees and numerous flowers, will make investors impressed before getting inside the building. After it is officially opened, the building will play a fundamental role in bu ilding the public's confidence especially to those who are keen to see the WTC complex built in Vientiane, he added.

After the completion of this office building, the company will be working on the shopping mall, commercial street, the apartments, five-star hotel and the office buildings. These developments represent the main phase of the project, which Lao International Development Co., Ltd aims to achieve from their investment in Vientiane.

The Nongchanh area where waste water used to be drained has already been transformed, offering a glimpse of what the World Trade Center has to offer. It is believed that after its completion, WTC will provide a new face for Vientiane as well as the country as a whole as it will be able to house the increasing number of international companies and commercial enterprises doing business in Laos.
