Laos, Singapore see bright future for business cooperation

Lao Airlines will increase the number of flights on its Vientiane-Singapore sector next year, from three to four times a week, in a bid to provide a better service.

Vice President of Lao Airlines Mr Sengpaseuth Mathouchanh told Vientiane Times that a meeting on Monday between senior staff of Singapore's Changi Airport, Lao Airlines and tour operators in Vientiane was a sign of the close business cooperation between the two countries.

“We have shared crucial information on the major tourist destinations in each country. Most importantly, the Singapore authorities have made it very convenient for us to land our aircraft at Changi Airport,” he said.

“During the meeting we described several interesting places to visit in Vientiane, especially historic sites and temples which are major attractions for visitors, such as That Luang, Patouxay and Vat Sisaket,” Mr Sengpaseuth said.

He added that more flights will enable visitors to enjoy a longer holiday in Singapore with friends and family.

During their visit to Laos, the staff of Singapore's Changi Airport and tour operators went to Luang Prabang province to explore Laos' first UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is rich in natural beauty, ancient temples and Lao traditions and culture.

“Through this meeting we have a great opportunity to spread the word about our country, by providing information to tour operators who, in turn, will pass it on to potential visitors so that they can get to know more about Laos,” Mr Sengpaseuth added.

In January, Changi Airport handled over 6,300 scheduled flights each week. More than 100 airlines now connect Singapore to 210 cities in 60 countries globally, so Singapore is now directly connected to all nine of its Asean neighbours.
