Stocks still mixed, liquidity plunges

Vietnamese stock market today saw another mixed trading session with VN-Index increased 0.43 point (0.1 percent) to 436.16 points while HNX-Index lost 1.34 points (1.7 percent) to 73.77 points.

The total trading volume on Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) and Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) today reached about 92.5 million shares with trading value worth over VND1.242,8 trillion, down 23.9 percent in volume and 24.2 percent in value against the previous trading session.

On HoSE, total trading volume reached about 41. 5 million shares worth over VND707.96 billion, down 20.35 percent in volume and 12.8 percent in value against the previous trading session.

In the trading session, the southern bourse’s benchmark index has been dragged down 430.8 points.

Amongst three blue chips – HoSE ‘4pillars’ – BVH and MSN reached the ceiling while VIC lost over 1.7 percent.

Key stocks, including SSI, ITA, HAG, HPG, KDC, KBC, ITA, EIB, CTG and VCB, fell right from the beginning of the trading session.

SSI continued to lead the market in terms of trading volume with over three million shares being transferred. It slipped 1 percent to VND20,100 per share by the end of the session.

VCF of Vinacafe Bien Hoa Co gained points for the 5th consecutive session and reached the ceiling price at VND100,000 per share. VCF today announced Masan Consumer, a subsidiary of Masan Group, made a public offer to buy 50 percent stake in VCF.

On HNX, there were about 51 million shares worth about VND534.86 billion being traded, down 16.5 percent in volume and 35.3 percent in value over the previous trading session.

Some share codes reached high trading volume such as KLS, VND and PVX.

The group of bank shares declined after gaining for two previous sessions. HBB and SHB decreased 5.6 percent and ACB dropped 3.8 percent.

The group of securities stocks, such as APS, AVS, CTS, SHS and VIG, was traded at the floor price.

By the end of the trading session, there were 60 gainers and 192 losers on the southern bourse, and the respective figures on the northern bourse were 52 and 219.

Foreign investors today shifted to net-buying after 5 net-selling sessions in a row on HoSE and 1 net-selling on HNX with over VND67 billion and about VND10 billion respectively.

On the southern bourse, their net-buying session today focused on SSI, DMC, DPM, ITA and VSH with VND33.39 billion, VND13.45 billion, VND6.05 billion, VND5.55 billion, and VND5.3 billion respectively.

Foreign investors have bought over 8.54 million SSI shares worth over VND163. 92 billion so far, shrinking their remaining room for SSI to 2.2 million shares.

In terms of net-selling, they concentrated on MSN, VCF, HAG, VIC, and STB with VND13.19 billion, VND3.68 billion, VND2.37 billion, VND2.03 billion, and VND1.9 billion respectively.

On the northern bourse, leading net-selling stocks today was BVS with over VND1.5 billion, while leading net-purchased stock were PGS and KLS with about VND3 billion and VND2 billion respectively.
