Siemens aims to strengthen its presence in Laos

Key stakeholders of Siemens in Laos met with Siemens experts to dialogue and discuss on how technology innovations can help developing countries like Laos and Vietnam to solve pressing problems and attain a sustainable growth.

The Laos Siemens Customer Day took place yesterday in Vientiane for the first time with an aim to present Siemens unique and broad portfolio that will help address the emerging challenges in the Land of a Million Elephants, especially in the areas of energy, industry, healthcare, and transportation.

“We are very proud to have some footprints in this peaceful country in the field of power transmission, mining and healthcare. Laos is a part of our strong Asean market and possesses a great growth potential so we will do our best to strengthen our presence here in the future,” Dr Thai-Lai Pham, President and CEO of Siemens Vietnam and Laos.

For the first time ever, Siemens brought together all stakeholders for a half-day conference where they had the opportunity to learn about Siemens’ extensive portfolio and to discuss with Siemens’ senior experts on how technological innovations can help developing countries like Lao and Vietnam to solve pressing problems and attain a sustainable growth.

With advanced technologies, from power generation to transmission and distribution to renewable energy, Siemens is addressing tough questions on how to provide a reliable supply of electricity without contributing to climate change. Siemens has been working closely with Electricite do Laos (EDL) since 2004 and has successfully implemented a number of transmission projects.

Siemens is one of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative and eco-friendly products and solutions for industrial customers. With a complete range of automation technologies, the company is helping to increase the productivity, efficiency and flexibility of its customers worldwide.

In the Laos, Siemens is the partner of choice for service support of Variable Speed Drive for Phu Bia Mining. Siemens has also helped upgrade the Distributed Control System for MMG.

In healthcare sector, with premium products and reliable services, Siemens has been supporting hospitals and clinics in providing high quality care to the patients with affordable costs, and enabling diagnosis and treatment to be more targeted, more cost-effective and more successful than ever before.

In 2014, Saravan provincial hospital was equipped with a range of Siemens imaging systems and through the Lao Ministry of Health, Siemens supplied a Rapidlab 1265 automated Blood gas analyser for five hospitals in Vientiane.

“With its unique and broad portfolio, Siemens perfectly matches the challenges facing Laos at present and in the coming years, especially in the areas of energy, transportation, industry and healthcare. We are committed to be a long-term and trusted partner providing Laos with innovation and an affordable world-class infrastructure portfolio,” he emphasised.
