Stocks climb as blue chips recover

The VN-Index rose slightly today, thanks to the recovery of major large-cap shares such as Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), PV Gas (GAS), Hoa Phat Group (HPG) and FPT Corp (FPT).

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index inched up 0.13 per cent to close at 628.48 points.

Blue chips ended mixed, with Eximbank (EIB), Vietcombank (VCB), VinGroup (VIC) and FLC Group (FLC) posting losses.

Liquidity remained high, however, with nearly 115 million shares worth VND2.16 trillion (US$102.4 million) being traded by the end of the morning.

FLC was again the most active code with 12.8 million shares being traded, slipping 0.84 per cent to end at VND11,800 per share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also added 0.28 per cent to finish at 90.40 points on a total value of VND1.293 trillion ($61.3 million).

Kim Long Securities Co (KLS) was leading the trading here with 14.6 million of its shares being exchanged at VND13,400 per share.

The afternoon session will start at 1pm.
