VN Index up on large-caps, brokerages

Viet Nam’s benchmark VN Index ended Tuesday morning on a positive note, led by brokerage firms and other large-cap companies.

 

The HCM Stock Exchange index added 0.29 per cent to close at 961.07 points. It gained total 1.3 per cent in the two previous sessions.

More than 85.7 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VND2.32 trillion (US$103.2 million).

Blue-chip stocks remained positive on Tuesday morning to drive the major market up.

Nineteen of the 30 largest companies by market capitalisation on the VN30 basket advanced, pushing the large-cap index up 0.35 per cent to 952.60 points.

Among the seven best gainers were Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corp (REE), HCM City Infrastructure Investment JSC (CII) and energy firms PetroVietnam Gas (GAS), PetroVietnam Power Nhon Trach 2 (NT2) and PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services (PVD).

These seven blue chips advanced between 1.1 per cent and 2.9 per cent.

Brokerage shares also traded positive with HCM City Securities (HCM), Saigon Securities Inc (SSI) and Vietinbank Securities (CTS) being among the best performers.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX Index fell 0.18 per cent to end at 113.03 points. It was up 0.18 per cent on Monday.

Nearly 30.8 million shares were traded on the northern market, worth VND388.5 billion.
