Laos based Businessman receives Award at Asean-India Biztech Expo and Conference 2017

This year to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Asean-India Dialogue Relations, Asean India Business Council (AIBC) in collaboration with the Federation of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and other support organisations organised the Asean – India BizTech Expo and Conference with the Theme “Bridging Borders Through Business” from May 24-25, 2017 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre KLCC), Malaysia.

There were three main components to the BIZTECH Expo & Conference as follows: Exhibition; Conference; and Asean -India Achievement and Excellence Awards. The ASEAN – India BizTech Expo and Conference was inaugurated by H.E. Y.B Dato’ ShriMustapa Mohamed - Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, H.E. Dr Khamlien Pholsena - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment of the Lao PDR, H.E. Shri T.S. Tirumurti - High Commissioner of India to Malaysia, Dato’ Ramesh Kodammal - Co-Chair of Asean – India Business Council (AIBC) and Chairman of AIBC Malaysia Chapter, Dr A Didar Singh - Secretary General of FICCI, Mr Habib Mohammed Chowdhury - Chairman of AIBC the Lao PDR Chapter And Founder Chairman and Managing Director of HSMM Group of Companies. The Exhibition covered high tech industries such as ICT, IoT, smart machines, customer digital assistance, automotive and aeronautical, biotech and pharmaceutical. Participating companies were from Malaysia, Asean, India and other Asean Dialogue Partner countries. Prominent speakers and panelists from around the region addressed the Conference.
A major highlight of the BIZTECH Expo & Conference was the Asean –India Achievement and Excellence Awards & Gala dinner organised on 24th May 2017 at Ballroom, St. Regis Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mr Habib Mohammed Chowdhury - Founder Chairman and Managing Director of HSMM Group of Companies And Chairman of AIBC Lao PDR Chapter received the “Inaugural Asean –India Emerging Entrepreneur Achievement and Excellence Award” from H.E. Y.B Dato’ Seri OngKaChuan, Minister II of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia in presence of H.E. Shri T.S. Tirumurti and Dato’ Ramesh Kodammal.Mr Habib said“I am grateful for this high recognition and would like to express my deepest gratitude to my Brother SoukthavyChowdhury (Sadik), Vice Chairman of the HSMM Group of Companies, my family and I would also like to thank my team who have supported me with their consistency and untiring dedication.”
Mr Habib’s HSMM Group of Companies received this honor among Global Market Leaders such as Tata Sons (Tata Group), PT. INDO BHARAT RAYON (Aditya Birla Group Company), VA TECH WABAG Limited, KCP Limited, IJM Corporation Berhad, Plus Max Group of Companies and SkyBlue Media.
It is now an opportune time for the private sector through the Asean-India Business Council (AIBC) to take the lead in raising the level of trade and investment flows.
AIBC has also now established a formal dialogue mechanism with the Asean Economic Ministers – India Consultations which is held annually around August or September of each year to represent the interest of the businesses to the joint Asean -India ministerial body. AIBC will continue to disseminate information on Asean and India to the business community. I am confident through these private sector linkages and improved air connectivity, trade and investment flows can be further enhanced between Asean and India, he said.
