TOKO Assurance Makes a comeback with new General Manager

The new General Manager of Toko Assurance, Mr Bong Young Choy, has launched a comeback action plan to better manage the company's operations and strengthen services for customers.

Faced with fierce competition in the market from new entrants, Bong's immediate task is instilling customer confidence with their long established reliable products and their track record of good service. The company has a long established reputation for honouring all their contracts efficiently, transparently and expediently.

We have now the added advantage of employing new information technology (IT) to improve our agency management and customer service. All our agents and customers can access our computer system for information on their claims online upon registration with us, Bong disclosed at a news conference last night.

Toko Assurance is taking a lead in the IT insurance field allowing its agents and customers to purchase and renew insurance online. We have 10 superb marketers in our sales team. We will immediately re-train all our staff and agents simultaneously with our advanced technology and therefore continue to enhance our sales and quality of service to meet customers' ever changing expectations, Bong continued when he was interviewed.

The company's main products are motor, fire, marine, transportation, medical, contractor and all risk insurance along with many others. To overcome the competition, the company will continue to reward their customers with reliable and expedient after sales services.

Even though the company is one of the leading insurers having established agents in all provinces to service their customers, they will continue their agent recruitment drive, and train and re-train their existing agents in order to bring their superior services to all provinces.

The company has for the past 2 years succeeded in their corporate business insuring some mega hydropower projects for a combined insured sum of USD840 million, provided travel insurance services for Tune Insurance covering AirAsia passengers flying out of the Lao PDR, and delivered bancassurance by working in close cooperation with established Malaysian banks operating locally. They are also targeting other local and foreign banks in the Lao PDR to expand the bancassurance business.

Some corporate customers are already extensively using Toko Assurance's medical insurance cover for their employees. Each of these established corporations' employees is issued a medical card allowing them to seek medical care and services from both local and neighbouring Thailand hospitals. Toko Assurance is one of the insurance companies in the Lao PDR that provides a Medical Card.

However, this corporate niche market is not apparent and market visible. Hence, Toko Assurance under Bong envisages being more active again in all personal and retail business insurance; especially motor, fire and medical insurance as their comeback business manoeuvre.

Company CEO, Mr Raymond Lim, was also present during the press conference.
