BCEL, Krungsri ink deal on bill payments

Banque pour le Commerce Exterieur Lao Public (BCEL Public) yesterday signed an agreement with Krungsri Leasing Services Co., Ltd. allowing Krungsri's customers to make payments via its banking channels.

The agreement was signed by the Deputy Managing Director of BCEL Public, Mr Phansana Khounnouvong, and Managing Director of Krungsri Leasing Services Co., Ltd., Mr Chatchawan Permsukjarusap.

Also attending the event was Vice President Mr Khamsouk Sundara as well as members of the two companies' board of directors.

Customers of Krungsri's leasing services will now find it easier to make transactions through the link with BCEL, such as counter services, Application BCEL One, Application I-Bank, and their ATMs.

Krungsri customers can also choose between BCEL's auto-payment services when making payments, said Mr Phansana.

This cooperation is very important for BCEL in increasing the range of its banking services for customers, he added.

Bill payments via the banking system are widely accepted and used in Laos after BCEL began providing bill payment services in 2009 and then developed the system through other channels like offering services online, especially its Application BCEL One on mobile phones, Mr Phansana said.

BCEL is a leading bank in Laos and now has 19 branches and 80 service units which all use modern banking technology.

In 2017, the bank plans to expand by building new branches and service units to provide even more convenience to customers in accessing financial services, Mr Phansana added.

Krungsri Leasing Service Co., Ltd. started offering its consumer financing products in Laos in 2014.

The company is a joint venture between the Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited (Krungsri) and Unity Capital Company Limited (UCC), a Vientiane-based consumer finance company that also offers consumer financing products in Laos.

Krungsri Leasing Service Co., Ltd. has two other financial products: Krungsri Auto which offers a car leasing service while Krungsri First Choice focuses on offering options for gold, electronics and electrical appliances to consumers.
