Tally reveals extent of tourism industry growth

The rapid growth of tourism has resulted in the parallel growth of tourist facilities, Tourism Minister Thong Khun said yesterday.

Tourism ministry data shows that as of the end of June the Kingdom has 335 resorts, 614 hotels with over 34,000 rooms, 1,660 guesthouses with over 25,000 rooms, 1,547 restaurants and food courts, 605 tour agencies and 4,863 tour guides.

Cambodia received 4.8 million foreign tourists last year, generating over $3 billion. Khun projected that the country would receive 7 million visitors by 2020, with $5 billion in tourist receipts.
