VN Index falls below 5903

The VN Index on the HCM City Stock Exchange fell below the level of 590 points this morning, as selling increased.

 

By the end of the morning, the VN-Index had lost 0.56 per cent to stand at 586.69 points.

The number of losers was triple the number of gainers by 136 to 45, while 123 remained unchanged.

Overall, the market traded nearly 58 million shares, worth VND830 billion (US$38.4 million).

Blue chips continued to slump with 21 losers in the VN30 basket. The VN30 Index fell by 0.51 per cent to close at 607.64 points.

FLC Group (FLC) remained the most active code with 8.million of its shares being traded, and dropped to VND8,700 per share.

Among blue chips, only HCM City Securities JSC (HCM), Saigon Securities Incorporation (SSI), Sacombank (STB) and Vietnam Dairy Products JSC (VNM) made gains.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index decreased by 0.15 per cent to stand at 86.33 points, with 89 losers and 52 gainers.

Market liquidity rose against yesterday morning, with 28.8 million shares being traded, worth VND352 billion ($16.3 million).

Among the top traded shares this morning, FIT Investment JSC (FIT) was the most active one, with 6.4 million of its shares being traded. It closed at VND12,700 per share, a decrease of 2.31 per cent.

Only four other stocks traded more than one million shares this morning, including IB Securities JSC (VIX).

The afternoon session will start at 1pm.
