VN-Index rally loses steam

Shares continued their rally this morning, but the growth decelerated towards the end of the session.

 

The VN-Index on the HCM Stock Exchange added 0.76 per cent to end at 584.76 points, while the VN30, which tracks the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity, was up 0.47 per cent to end at 603.30 points.

The overall market condition was positive, with the gainers being double the number of losers, while 117 others remained unchanged.

Liquidity improved this morning, with more than 67 million shares, worth almost VND1.26 trillion (US$57.8 million), being traded by the end of the morning.

HCM City Infrastructure Investment Corp (CII) led the trading here, with more than five million of its shares being exchanged, rising 1.7 per cent to stand at VND23,700 ($1) per share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index closed nearly flat at 87.08 points, but the market value remained modest, reaching VND325 billion ($15 million).

Only four stocks saw trading of more than one million shares, among which Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate Co (SCR) was the most active, with 3.7 million of its shares being exchanged. But its prices decreased 1.2 per cent to end at VND8,300 per share.
