Stocks recover as blue chips rise

Shares rebounded this morning following the gains made by blue chips.

 

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index regained nearly five points, or 0.78 per cent, to end the morning at 602.14 points.

Blue chips rallied with the VN30, which tracks the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity, rising 0.75 per cent to close at 645.63 points.

Trading was modest as more than 51 million shares, worth nearly VND849 billion (US$40.2 million), were traded by the end of the morning.

Real Estate FLC Group (FLC) regained its position as the most active share, with nearly 20 million shares changing hands, climbing 6.84 per cent to finish at VND12,500 per share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index managed to close above the neutral level despite a negative opening. The index inched up just 0.05 per cent to close at 80.38 points.

More than 23 million shares worth VND340 billion ($16.1 million) were exchanged.

Speculative stock PetroVietnam Construction Corp (PVX) led the trading in term of volume with 3.6 million shares being exchanged, rising 2.27 per cent to stand at VND4,500 per share.

The afternoon session will start at 1pm.
