Asian indexes climb, Viet Nam's bourses slump

The Hang Seng Index rose by 212.62 points, a fifth-straight gain on July 28 to reach 24,428.63 in Hong Kong.

 

On the same day, the Shanghai Composite Index also added 51.33 points to finish at 2,177.95 in mainland China.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 gained 71.53 points to reach 15,529.40, and the Topix Index closed up 4.72 points to end the day at 1,286.07.

The investors in Viet Nam, on the other hand, faced losses. The VN index edged down 10.69 points to close at 589.45 and the HNX fell 1.70 points to finish at 77.73 in the capital city.

As Singapore was closed on the occasion of Hari Raya Puasa or "Day of Celebration," a Muslim festival, the Straits Times Index stayed unchanged at 3,350.17.
