Shares end mixed in subdued trade

Shares closed mixed this morning and trading continued to be sluggish.

 

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index fell 0.26 per cent to end at 552 points.

The capital inflow did not return to the market, with the trading volume and value remaining at very low levels.

A modest 32.2 million shares were traded, worth only VND407.9 billion or US$19.4 million.

The VN30-Index, which tracks the southern bourse's 30 largest stocks by capitalisation and liquidity, lost 0.3 per cent to end at 602 points. The losers overwhelmed the gainers by 15-7.

The losers included Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), FPT Group (FPT) and Vietcombank (VCB), while Vingroup (VIC), REE Corporation (REE) and PetroVietnam Low Pressure Gas Distribution Corporation (PGD) were among the gainers.

On the Ha Noi Exchange, the HNX-Index, however, closed 0.3 per cent higher at 74.12 points, while the HNXFF-Index, comprising stocks with a minimum free float rate of 5 per cent, gained 0.46 per cent to close at 74.8 points.

The HNX30-Index finished at 146.67 points, rising by 0.2 per cent.

Only 18.4 million shares were traded in the morning, worth VND156.8 billion or $7.4 million.
