Shares advance in morning trading

Shares closed higher on both the national stock exchanges this morning after yesterday's sell-off.

 

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index added 0.53 per cent to reach 559.75 points.

With more than 37.5 million shares changing hands, the trading value was modest at VND580.2 billion or S$27.6 million.

With 16 gainers, the VN30-Index, which comprises the southern bourse's largest stocks by capitalisation and liquidity, advanced 0.37 per cent to stand at 613.27 points.

On the VN30 Index, only the HCM City Infrastructure Investment Corporation (CII) fell slightly this morning.

The gainers included Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Masan Group (MSN), Hoa Sen Group (HSG) and Ocean Group (OCG).

On the H No^.i Exchange, the HNX-Index added 0.54 per cent to close at 75.21 points, while the HNXFF-Index, comprising stocks with a minimum free float rate of 5 per cent, rose by 0.58 per cent to finish at 75.71 points.

The HNX30-Index closed at 150.15 points, rising by 1.02 per cent over yesterday.

The trading volume and value were modest at 22.1 million shares, worth VND208.6 billion or $9.9 million.
