Phone export revenue takes lead in billion-dollar export club

The export of phones and parts during the year up to September hit an estimated US$38.6 billion, the highest among five product groups whose export value exceeded US$10 billion each, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

These five product groups are in the processing and manufacturing industries, reported Vietnam Plus news site.

In particular, the export of phones and accessories rose 5.1% against last year’s figure, followed by the group of computers, electronics and components with outbound sales soaring as high as 16.9% at over US$25 billion.

The nine-month period saw exports of garment and textile products jumping 10.4% to reach more than US$24 billion. The group of footwear items came fourth, with export value inching up 13.5% to over US$13 billion.

The last group, machinery, equipment and tools, obtained export sales of US$12.9 billion, up 7.5% versus the figure seen last year.

Data also showed that the country recorded 28 product groups gaining an export value of over US$1 billion each as of the third quarter of the year, accounting for 90.96% of the nation’s total export turnover.
