Local shares go up on global rise

Positive movements on the US stock market during Tuesday’s overnight trading brought bright prosperity to the Vietnamese market on Wednesday morning.

 

The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose 0.30 per cent to end Wednesday morning session at 996.01 points.

Some 105.6 million shares worth nearly VND2 trillion (US$86 million) were traded on the southern market.

The VN-Index slid 0.05 per cent to end Tuesday at 993.05 points.

On the US stock market, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 237.44 points, or 0.89 per cent, to 27,024.8. The S&P 500 gained 29.53 points, or 1.00 per cent, to 2,995.68 and the Nasdaq Composite added 100.06 points, or 1.24 per cent, to 8,148.71.

On the local market, banking groups performed well with gainers included Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), Vietinbank (CTG), Military Bank (MBB), Vietcombank (VCB), VPBank (VPB), Techcombank (TCB).

Some other blue-chips also attracted strong cash flow such as Ba Viet Holdings (BVH), FPT Corporation (FPT), PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), Masan Group (MSN), Vincom Retail (VRE), Mobile World Group (MWG), Phu Nhuan Jewellery (PNJ).

Real estate stocks saw positive trading with the HCM City Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (CII), Development Investment Construction Group (DIG), Cotec Construction Joint Stock Company (CTD), Dat Xanh Group DXG, Hoa Binh Construction Corporation (HBC), Phuc Hung Holdings Joint Stock Company (PHC) and the Power Construction JSC (PC1) all climbing.

Seventeen of the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity gained value and 10 lost. The other three remained unchanged.

By sector, retail, wholesale, insurance, securities, oil and gas, banking, healthcare, agriculture, information and technology, food and beverage, seafood processing and construction materials were the gainers this morning.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index climbed 0.14 per cent to end Wednesday morning at 106.15 points.

Some 20 million shares worth VND191 billion were exchanged.

The HNX-Index dropped 0.03 per cent to end Tuesday at 106.01 points.
