VN stocks down during the last day of ETF reviews

Vietnamese shares dropped in the early trading session on Friday amidst the quarterly portfolio review of exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

 

The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange fell 0.34 per cent to close at 1,004.97 points.

The southern market index had gained 2.41 per cent in the previous three trading days.

More than 123 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VND2.8 trillion (US$120.4 million).

Today is the last day for ETFs to finish trading stocks in their quarterly portfolio reviews.

Among those stocks, property developers Vinhomes (VHM) and Vincom Retail (VRE) lost 1.1 per cent and 2 per cent, and Vietcombank (VCB) was down 1.2 per cent.

They were among the seven worst-performing largest stocks by market capitalisation on the southern bourse.

The VN30 Index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest shares by market capitalisation, fell 0.63 per cent to 928.51 points.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX Index was up 0.42 per cent to end at 110.48 points.

The HNX Index had rallied total 1.66 per cent in the previous four days.

More than 30 million shares were traded on the northern bourse, worth VND313.3 billion.

The afternoon trading session starts at 1pm.
