Contech Vietnam 2018 opens in Ha Noi

Contech Vietnam 2018, an international trade fair for construction, mining and transportation, opens today at the National Exhibition Construction Centre in Ha Noi.

 

More than 50 businesses from many countries and territories including Italy, Japan, German, South Korea, Bulgaria, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, mainland China and Viet Nam are participating in the event, showcasing advanced machinery, equipment, technology, vehicles and materials.

General Secretary of Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Association Tran Dinh Thai said machinery and technology for the construction industry changed annually, requiring individuals and businesses to catch up and enhance their capacity.

“While relevant regulations on construction are stricter and requirements on safety and efficiency in construction and operation have become more important, Contech Vietnam 2018 is essential to the country’s construction industry as it helps local constructors update their technologies,” said Thai.

According to report from the General Statistics Office, the of Viet Nam’s economy in 2017 at current prices reached VND5 quadrillion (US$214.13 billion), of which industry and construction and services made up a large part, contributing 74 per cent to the economy. GDP per capita was estimated at VND53.5 million ($2,385), an increase of $170 compared with 2016.

During the event, there will be seminars on the application of advanced technology in mining in Quang Ninh, the coal hub of Viet Nam, updated information about Viet Nam’s construction industry, and “Green Construction Materials, Energy Savings - Solutions and Products.”

The event will last until Saturday.
