Airports to receive more than 100 million passengers this year

Viet Nam is expected to receive about 105 million passengers passing through airports in the country in 2018, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of Viet Nam.

 

Dinh Viet Thang, director of the Civil Aviation Administration of Viet Nam, said 2018 could be the first year passenger arrivals and departures to airports hit the 100-million threshold.

Statistics showed in the first nine months of this year, the number of arrivals and departures at airports reached nearly 80 million, up 12.1 per cent over the same period last year.

The volume of goods shipped through airports reached 1.1 million, up by 5.6 per cent.

Airports in Viet Nam received more than 336,400 departure/arrival flights in January – September, up 10.2 per cent year on year.

In 2017, airports handled more than 94 million passenger arrivals/departures, up 16 per cent over 2016.

Currently, 22 airports operate commercial flights in Viet Nam, including nine international airports.
