PM to meet with SOEs this month

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will meet with State-owned enterprises (SOEs) on September 28 in Ha Noi.

Deputy Prime Ministers Vuong Dinh Hue and Trinh Dinh Dung will also co-chair the meeting.

The meeting aims to review the equitisation, capital divestment, arrangement and renovation of SOEs from 2016-18, and discuss solutions for their successful restructuring.

Dang Quyet Tien, director of the Ministry of Finance’s Corporate Finance Department, said that the ministry had received more than 450 proposals from 18 ministries and ministerial-level agencies, 44 SOEs and 46 local authorities that would be discussed at the meeting.

The proposals were mainly about bottlenecks in implementing privatisation, such as in determining the corporate value of SOEs and handling loss-making projects.

The restructuring of SOEs is one of the three focuses for renovating national growth from 2016-20.
