Shares rebound on two exchanges

Shares rose slightly on the two national exchanges on Friday morning as a number of large-cap stocks recovered.

On HCM Stock Exchange, the VNIndex edged up 0.33 per cent after a two-day decline, closing the morning trade at 1,029.88 points.

The market breadth was positive, with the gainers outnumbering the losers by 151-113 (93 other stocks closed unchanged).

The main supporters on the southern bourse this morning included private conglomerate Vingroup, PV Gas and Vietcombank, with a growth of 0.5-1.8 per cent. They are among the top 10 listed companies in the market.

However, some blue chips tumbled and restrained the market growth. They were dairy giant Vinamilk, lender BIDV and Vietinbank.

On Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX Index inched up 0.17 per cent to 122.71 points.

A total of 104 million shares, worth VND2.54 trillion (US$111.6 million), were traded in the two markets.

On the Unlisted Public Company Market, where many large State-owned enterprises are listing, the UPCOM Index was down 0.08 per cent to 56.06 points.

The afternoon trading session starts at 1pm.
